The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

A coffered ceiling is a grid of beams with recessed panels, a hallmark of fine millwork. Box beams and planked ceilings give a more rustic or modern look. All of them need careful layout so the pattern is centered and the lights land where they belong.

We frame lightweight boxes or solid beams, attach them to blocking above, and trim and fill so the joints disappear. We coordinate with electricians for lighting and fans.

Why homeowners choose it

Four things done right.

Centered, balanced layout

The grid is drawn to the room, not just the ceiling.

Strong attachments

Beams anchored to framing, not just drywall.

Light-friendly

Fixtures and fans planned into the pattern.

Seamless joints

Caulked and filled for painting.

Good questions

Coffered and Beamed Ceilings: common questions

Will a coffered ceiling make my room feel smaller?

It adds visual interest, but needs enough height. Rooms with nine-foot ceilings or higher usually handle it well, and shallow beams work in lower rooms.

Can I add a beam ceiling over lights and fans?

Yes. We plan the pattern around them and coordinate with your electrician.
